Nancy Burgin Basham -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nancy Burgin Basham, 81, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Trinity Healthcare, Columbus, MS. Visitation for Mrs. Basham will be Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, from 1-2:30 p.m. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating. Interment will be in Mayhew Cemetery, Mayhew, MS, with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, directing. Mrs. Basham was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Columbus, MS, to the late William G. and Susie Will Gunter Burgin. As a young girl, Nancy also lived in Louisiana and California before the family returned to Mayhew, MS. Upon returning to Mayhew, MS, the family constructed a new home at Thousand Oaks, just east of Starkville, MS. Nancy was a graduate of Starkville High School and Mississippi State College for Women (now MUW). Following graduation from the "W", she moved to Falls Church, VA, to work for the Federal Government nd the war effort. She retired after over 50 years of employment with the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C., and returned "home" again a few years ago. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ardis V. (Jack) Basham, and her brother, William G. (Bill) Burgin, Jr. Nancy is survived by her stepmother, Nancy Henderson Burgin of Bells, TN; a brother, John Ramond Burgin of Big Stone Gap, VA; a sister, Jane Burgin Cox of Memphis, TN; sister-in-law, Catherine Cathy) Harrison Burgin of Columbus, MS; nieces, Helen Burgin Jensen of Shaker Heights, OH, and Catherine (Katy) Burgin Kola of Kent, OH; nephews, William G. Burgin, III of Greensboro, NC, Robert M. Burgin of Floyd, VA, John Ramond Burgin, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Ronny Harrison and William H. (Billy) Harrison, both of Columbus, and Richard Powell of Stafford, TX. She will also be missed by numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews, as well as very special friends, Richard and Debbie Pearce of the Washington, D.C. area.
