Amanda G. Burton

WEST POINT - Amanda Goar Burton, 95, died Sept. 18, 2006, 
at her residence.Services will be Monday at noon at St. Paul 
United Methodist Church in West Point with the Rev. Dean 
Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. 
Visitation is today from 3 to 8 p.m. at Carter's Funeral Services 
of Columbus.  

Mrs. Burton was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Lowndes 
County, to the late Sallie and William Goar Sr. 

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, 
where she served as an usher and on the mother's board. She was a 
teacher and a registered nurse.In addition to her parents, she was 
preceded in death by two sons; seven brothers; and six sisters.

She is survived by her sisters, Rosie Thomas of Columbus, 
Girlee Cole of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Samella Edwards of 
Washington; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Her family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
