Friday Morning, March 25, 1927 THE NASHVILLE TENNESSEAN Woman Historian of Mississippi Is Dead Memphis, Tenn.,--March 24.--Mrs. J.C. Fant [John Clayton Fant], wife of the president of Mississippi State College for Women, Columbus, died in a hospital here today after ten days illness. She was 45 years old. Burial will be in Columbus. She collaborated with her husband in the writing "A History of Mississippi," a standard school text book. Her active interest and support were given to her husband in his work as dean of the School of Education, University of Mississippi and as president of the college at Columbus.
