Raymond Faulkner - May 25, 2003 Raymond Faulkner, 79, of West Point, formerly of Columbus, died May 25, 2003 at the Clay County Medical Center. Services were Tuesday, May 27, at First Christian Church in West Point. Burial followed with full military honors at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus. Dr. Timothy Teater officiated. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Faulkner was born Jan. 26, 1924 in Pontotoc to the late William Wesley Nathaniel an dCora Fontain Edwards Faulkner. He was a member and deacon of First Christian Church of West Point and a retired USAF Master Sgt. He worked for the U.S. Post Office after retiring from the Air Force. He was owner of Faulkner Frame and Body Shop for 20 years and the owner of Waverly Grocery and Bait Shop for many years. He was a member of the Columbus VFW and a 25-year member of the Elks Lodge, where he held all offices. He was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers Rubel Faulkner and Paul B. Faulkner. Survivors include his wife, Nell Weaver Faulkner of West Point; children Raymond D. ?David? Faulkner of McDonough, Ga., Monique Mackey of Raleigh, N.C., Dona Sharon Bowers of Mobile, and Joseph Faulkner of Gulfport; a sister, Joan Nichols of Gulfport; grandchildren Jana-Shaye Bowers, Wesley Faulkner, Amber Mackey, Scott Mackey and Jacob Faulkner; and several nieces and nephews. A military honor guard served as pallbearers.
