William Stanley Hayes William Stanley Hayes, 70 of Columbus, MS passed away Friday, December 19, 2008, at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, AL. Visitation was held Saturday, December 20, 2008, from 6-9 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2008, 2 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating and Bro. Ralph Windle assisting. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus, MS, Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Hayes was born on January 17, 1938, in Lamar County, AL, to the l ate Burvil Hayes and Willie Mae Woodham Hayes and was a resident of Columbus for the past 46 years having moved from Florence, AL. He retired from The Commercial Dispatch as Pressman after thirty-five years of service. Mr. Hayes was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS where he was a deacon and a choir member for more than 40 years, and a dedicated member of Men’s Sunday School Class. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. His greatest outdoor love was growing day lilies and served as President of the local Day Lilies Organization. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife of fifty-one years - Juanice Hayes, Columbus, MS; sons - Keith (Becky) Hayes, Columbus, MS; Jeff (Lauren) Hayes, Birmingham, AL; brother - Jerry (Mary) Hayes, Columbus, MS; grandchildren - Stephen Hayes, Maggie Hayes, Sarah Grace Hayes, and Katie Hayes; and special friend - Ronnie Colburn. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Colburn, Ray Crane, Alan Crane, Doug Murrah, Robert McKay and Steve Little. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and members of the Bobby Sugg’s Sunday School Class.
