Lizzie Hines

CRAWFORD — Lizzie Hines, 84, died Jan. 19, 2009, at North Mississippi 
Medical Center-West Point. Services are Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Prairie
Chapel MB Church with Pastor Sammie Lyons officiating. Burial will follow 
at the church cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-6 p.m. at Lee-Sykes
 Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus. 

Mrs. Hines was born March 10, 1924, to the late Jannie and Sylvester Clayborn. 
She was a member of Prairie Chapel MB Church, where she served on the 
Missionary Society and was a Union aide, Sunday school teacher and 
president of the Usher Board. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carter 
Lewis Hines Sr.; and sons, Tommie Lee Hines Sr. and Jerry Hines. She is 
survived by her sister, Mareen Brewer of East St. Louis, Ill.; children, William 
Hines of Tacoma, Wash., Lillie Hines of Starkville, Vera Dantzler of Artesia, 
Shala Hines of Crawford, and Leon Hines and Edmond Hines Sr., both of 
Columbus; 29 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be 
Eddie Pippins, Robert Sharp, Johnny Phillips, Nathaniel Peterson, Cornelious 
Harris and Troy Sherrod.
