Mr. J. R. Locke Dies (This should be J. H. Locke) b. March 1836 d. September 9, 1915 Funeral services over the remains of Mr. Jesse H. Locke were held at Friendship cemetery shortly after noon Sunday, conducted by Rev. J. M. Carpenter, pastor of the Second Methodist Church. Mr. Locke, who for some time past had been residing with his daughter, Mrs. Bat Williams, at Prairie, was seized with a paralytic stroke last Saturday which resulted in his death. In months gone by he had suffered two other strokes. Mr. Locke was for many years a citizen of Columbus, and after the death of his wife about a year ago, went to the home of Mrs. Williams where he has since lived. He was a brother of Mr. T. J. Locke, Sr., of this city, and was well known and loved here. At the funeral Sunday, the following friends acted as pallbearers: Battle Bell, J. R. Richards, R. O. Brooks, G. D. Harris, C. F. Sherrod, Sr., and W. C. Beard.
