Leona Malone, 89 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Windsor Place Nursing and Rehab, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 1 – 2 PM at Ziegler Funeral Home, Athens, TN. A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2:30 PM at McMinn Memorial Gardens, Athens, TN. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS is in charge of local arrangements and Ziegler Funeral Home, Athens, TN in charge of Tennessee arrangements.

Mrs. Malone was born January 4, 1920 in Murphy, NC to the late Mark Lee and Flora Ann Beasley Jordan and was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past fourteen years having moved from Athens, TN. She was retired from Ridge Textile, Athens, TN after twenty years of service as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Malone is preceded in death by her husband - Thomas Richard Malone; sons – Thomas W. Malone, T.R. Malone, Jr.; sisters – Mattie Teague, Zora Hicks, Della McKeean and Audrey Teague.

Mrs. Malone is survived by her daughter – Flora (Harry) Olsen, Columbus, MS; son – Jerry (Helen) Malone, Benton, TN; daughter-in-law – Jane Malone, Athens, TN; grandchildren – Mark (Belinda) Olsen, Columbus, MS; Greg (Carrie) Olsen, Huntsville, AL; Annette (Stan) Weaver, Clinton, TN; great grandchildren – Andrew Olsen, Cameron Olsen, Erin Olsen, Colin Olsen, Shannon Olsen, Ian Weaver, Hannah Weaver and great-great granddaughter – Hailey Weaver and several nieces and nephews.
