Joan Pritchard Joan Dale McCormick Pritchard, 61, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at her residence in Columbus. Services will be Friday, July 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Columbus with Bro. Kip Rush officiating. Burial will be in Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Pritchard was the daughter of Willodene Moore McCormick and the late Dale N. McCormick. She graduated from S.D. Lee High School in 1960 and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She then started her career at Mitchell Engineering where she worked for 12 years. She pursued and enjoyed a highly successful career as a real estate broker and commercial and residential real estate appraiser. In 1990, at the age of 48, she decided to pursue a nursing degree. She attended Mississippi University for Women and graduated in 1993 with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She worked in home health for a brief period and then returned to Mississippi University for Women and received her nurse practitioner's degree. At the time of her death, she was employed with the Mississippi State Department of Health as a nurse practitioner. She was a member of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she previously served as an Elder, holding the honor of being the first female elder at Beersheba. She is survived by her husband, Joe A. Pritchard Jr.; daughters, Wendi Allen Franks and husband, Gary,and Allison Pritchard Kizer and husband, J.D.; mother, Willodene M. McCormick; sisters, Nancy M. Atkins and husband, Donald, and Beth M. Gee and husband, Jerry, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Meagan Chapman, Gabe Franks, Morgan Franks, Julia Franks and Jack Kizer; nieces, Lori Brown and husband, Doug, Leigh Phillips and husband, Bob, Nancy Ray, Angel Walker, Christy Moore, Courtney Bick, and Cassie Cook; and nephews, Greg Gee and wife, Kathy, Dale Atkins, Jody Gee and wife, Betsy, Joe Tilley and Shane Smith. Pallbearers will be Greg Gee, Dale Atkins, Jody Gee, Doug Brown, Bob Phillips, Roscoe Shepherd, and Ronnie West. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Davis, Bonnie Mendelson, Nettie Murrah, Hazel Hearvey, Shane Smith, James Forrester, Joey Tilley, Billy Blasingame, Butch Dollar, Steve Jolly, J.T. Moore, Joyce Kramer, and past and present Elders of Beersheba Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
