Cecil R. Raider Jr. Cecil Raymond Raider Jr, 72, died Nov. 26, 2006, at his residence in Columbus. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Danner officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. the funeral home. Mr. Raider was born April 6, 1934, in Pierce County, Wash., to the late Cecil R. and Grace Clark Raider and was the great-great-nephew of Davey Crocket. He was retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service. He also taught culinary arts while in the service and was a master chef. He was a veteran of Vietnam and also served in the Navy Reserve for two years during Korea. He was a member of Main Street Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife Frances Riley Raider of Columbus; daughters, Angelique Raider Jones of Hampton, Va., and Virginia Ann Passero of Tampa, Fla.; son, Vincent V. Passero of Ft. Riley, Kan.; sister Ruth Schraider of Tacoma, Wash.; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Main Street Presbyterian Church, 701 Main St., Columbus.
