Barbour Cheese Factory, Billups Gate, Lowndes County, Mississippi
Barbour Cheese Factory Groundbreaking This is a very large Photo, so it will take a while to load, but worth it to see the facial details of these people.
Louis T. Wells, Jr. writes:
"The following comes from the notes about my father's work life:
[Louis T. Wells]: 1928 to 1937: Borden Corporation. Started, probably, on Jan. 1, 1928, to oversee the building of the "Barber" plants at Billups and Columbus. Made division sales manager on January 1, 1930.
1932 - about 1934: sales manager, cheese division, Borden South, 99 South Front St., Memphis, Tennessee
I am not sure about the 1928 date, but I think it is probably right. Note that the clothes people are wearing in the photo suggest winter; that at least is consistent with the January date! Since I wasn't around yet, I can't confirm it personally; I wasn't born until 1937."
