This cemetery is located behind the Artesia United Methodist Church in Artesia, Mississippi, near the location of the old schoolhouse, on the north end of the town, near the intersection of Front Street and Church Street.
One Lone Grave with the headstone long destroyed by vandals, lies along the old road between Artesia and Bent Oak , near Beulah Grove. I remember seeing it when I was a child in the 50's, my grandfather would always point it out to me.I believe this was the wife of John Hopkins, age 60 on 1850 Lowndes Census, Stamped Page #80.

related that Francis McGee is not really buried in the Artesia Cemetery where
his headstone is located. Some years ago this family member found the headstone
in Greene County Alabama. It was piled up in a corner of a field suggesting a
farmer had taken gravestones and moved them to one location so he could farm the
land. This family member put the stone in his car and brought it to Artesia to
be erected near his daughter's (Emily McGee Smith) grave. The other headstones
at that location in Green County were unidentifiable.
