New Hope, Lowndes County, Mississippi History
New Hope - In 1825, W. E. Erwin, along with several friends settled onthis site eight miles southeast of Columbus. In 1837, Erwin donated land for the building of a church that was called New Hope, expressing the hopes of the citizens for the new community.*
